Two days in a row!

Greetings. I've got something on my mind, and this seemed the best place to put it right now. I had a friend tell me today that I was too analytical about everything. My reaction, I fear, led him to believe I was offended. Ironically, however, I was simply analyzing the statement. It's absolutely true, mind you. I analyze the way someone looks at me, their body language, their speech patterns, the tone of their voice...and so on. I analyze television commercials, advertisements in magazines and on billboards, styles of clothing, brand names, light patterns, colors. I read so deeply into everything around me. While I have always considered this to be a trait I am particularly proud of, I realized today that it is also one that may be the cause of many of my problems. Over-analyzation of the world around us can, in many instances, reveal alot of ugliness. In Galapagos, a Vonnegut novel I recently started reading, the narrator takes the form of a man living one million years past 1986. He tells the reader that the large size of the average human brain in 1986 was the direct cause of the ugliness to be found in humanity. The frequent talk of Charles Darwin and his theory of evolution lead me to believe (I'm not too far into the book, by the way) that the shrinking of the human brain over time is merely an evolutionary act that occurs in order to save the human race. If this is the suggestion...I love it! It explains the source of so many of my depressive days. Well, that's it. Just wanted to get that out of my head at the moment. Hope all is well.
