Day 2 & 3

Jun 06, 2009 23:30

I went to the restaurant in Alamosa recommended to me by the hotel manager and as I was alone I was asked if I'd like to sit at the bar. Sure, why not. I was seated next to another singleton, a man about my age with a pony tail and pleasant smile, kinda reminded me of George the kinky massage therapist. We ate and chatted for a couple of hours. Had a couple of absolute killer margaritas. And much to my amazement I ate my entire dinner. It was human sized. I had three cheese enchiladas with rice and beans and ate every last bite. (and did not barf afterwards.) Very good food in reasonable portions. The enchiladas were made from tortillas that were only about 4-5 inches wide. Mexican style red chile sauce. The owner and crew are from Mexico. Over the years they have learned to make some New Mexican food but still have many Mexican dishes on the menu.

I got back to my hotel about 9 pm and watched TV til Bill Maher came on. Gotta take advantage of HBO when you have it.

Meditated again and fell asleep in the act and slept til 5am. Most excellent.

Found myself heading towards Taos instead of Durango. Had a gas station fried burrito enroute which may well be the best one I've ever had. I can't resist a baby fried burrito. I took a lot of pics west of Taos that I'd hoped to post here but left my camera cable at home. But I spent some time taking a tour of self sustaining homes, i.e. totally off the grid and not dependant on any type of infrastructure. And since I can't post my pics, I'll just send you to this website:

Tonight I'm in Santa Fe getting ready to read in a long relaxing bath. Tomorrow I'm off to shop at the plaza (i.e. get jewelry design ideas and find a smaller purse) and then head down to Madrid to see what is available in the way of a shop. Then to Albuquerque where my friend Jeannie has a green chile sour cream chicken enchilada dinner planned. But first I'm going to sleep til about noon just cause I can.
