So winter break is only a few days away! University is done, but the HS I work at has 3 more days. They seem like worthless days to me, since the kids don't really do anything in many classes (the history teacher was showing "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and the Chem teacher showed more episodes of "CSI"), but as they all say, the days count

That is ridiculious I talked to a techer friend of mine recently who was recieving slck from the Admin for not allowing her students to use net speak in written reports .....since when is the use of slang and such proper usage in written reports hell most of these kids cant spell the real words --(I can I just dont pay attention to what I type)

Yeah, in my school I think they have to explain the difference between chat language and composition language to attempt to get the kids to write using more developed language and better spelling. There's a debate about validating "real" language, aka what people really use in day-to-day use, versus "official" language, aka what language is valued in rich culture (I would say it in a more PC fashion, but that's basically what it boils down to).
