already September?

I did something a little crazy. Crazy being relative, of course, to me. I emailed a woman at Chatt State to inquire about a teaching position. I had gotten an email from someone at UTC mentioning that Chatt State had teaching vacancies and that MA students could apply for the job, so I contacted the woman from Chatt State and said, basically, Where do I sign up?

Don't know where that sudden burst of confidence came from but I hope she gets back with me, if not to hire me then at least to tell me how I would go about getting into teaching. It's for their developmental writing courses. After I sent it, I thought, "What on earth am I doing?" But we'll see how it goes. Teaching college writing classes? Yikes. Jeremy insists that I could do it; I'm not so sure.

Something on this desk is lightly squeaking and it's bugging me to no end.

In other news, I've started my novel for the novel-writing course this semester. I like the story I'm telling so far, but the problem will be to stop incorporating every idea I have into this thing. I scrapped the children's book idea for a few reasons; at least, I've scrapped it for the purposes of this class. Now I'm writing something of a literary, post-apocalyptic dystopian thriller with (maybe) a love story buried underneath? Something like that. But like I said, I need to stop shoving all my ideas into it or else it's going to become a monster and the plot will die, as will the characters.

Today's my parents' 25th wedding anniversary. Here's to another 25 years!
