Metaphors [A Poem]

Oct 09, 2011 12:58

So....I wrote this poem...doesn't rhyme or anything, just free verse I suppose.
Okay, grab your sailor's hat and hop on board. Let's get this boat out to sea. C:

Metaphors

Standing alone
Looking up to see the stars
The moon
The lunar sea above me.

Wondering why,
Why people see these things
And find them beautiful
While I see nothing.

Walking away,
With just my mind and solitude,
Wishing I too
Could find comfort from it all.

Waking up,
Looking out the dirty window,
Hazy morning sun
Bleakly trickling in

Wondering why,
Why I'm not engulfed
By the warmth and brightness
That others are.

Getting up,
Shaking off the daze of sleep
Begging God
To let me feel it all.

Walking back at dusk
To the same, lonely field
Feeling the brisk wind
Blow my hair.

I don't look up
Instead, I look at you
Glossy eyes up,
Head tilted toward the moon
Confusion drowning you.

Wondering why,
Why you're here like me
I approach you.
Ask if you see it, any of it.

Walking away,
Holding your hand,
Finally comforted,
Knowing I'm not the only one

Who's different.
