Coming out to my dad was nowhere near as bad, awkward, or uncomfortable as I thought it would be. There's not much of a story to tell. Basically, I went out and told him I had to tell him something while he dug through the refrigerator. He asked what, and I stuttered with my words, trying to find a way to say it, but then it kind of just escaped; "Well, I'm Gay."
I was expecting an 'O' face, raised eyebrows, even a glance at me, but he just kept rearranging things to get the milk in the back of the fridge. He said something like, "Yeah, and? You want to have a boy over tonight or something?" I was more than a little confused. I told him that no, I didn't, I just wanted to tell him the truth. His response was a chuckle, followed by, "Justus, I already knew that,"
...What??
I asked him how he knew. "I'm your dad, Jus, not an idiot. Let's see, skinny jeans, outfits that are actually well coordinated, make up, and how long do you spend on your hair every morning? Oh, and probably 10 guys have called in the past few years wondering where their 'favorite guy' was at," He gave me a 'duh' look and pulled out the milk, shutting the fridge. Huh. I guess it was made a little obvious. How did my mom not notice? Whatever.
"So, you're okay with it? You're not upset that I'm not, I don't know, normal?"
"No, Justus. You're still my son, and you're still the same great kid your mother and I raised. Now go do whatever, I need to get my coffee," I started to walk away, but Dad wouldn't be Dad without his lame jokes. "Oh, and always remember to practice safe sex, kid! Oh, never mind, don't worry about getting someone pregnant," -Insert eye roll-
Woo! I'm officially out. No more lying. Now, off to clean my room.
Goo~Bye
