But yeah, Madonna has no right to touch, nor even suggest touching Casablanca, nor has anyone else, short of Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman coming back from the dead and wanting to do a remake. Zombie Casablanca!... eww.

At least you can take (a quantum of?) solace in the knowledge that Madonna is going to make Guy Richie a very, very rich man (more than his films have, certainly), and maybe with her losses, she'll be too busy cutting her spending to worry about ruining classic cinema :) *crosses fingers*

Well, Downey's still going strong, but I'm assuming by now that you've heard that Terrence Howard is being replaced by Don Cheadle for the second film. Not a huge loss there, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Hm, that kind of sucks, I liked Terrence Howard in the movie. I hope it was a legit reason, like Howard didn't/couldn't do it, and not "shit, this is bigger than we were expecting, let's get someone a bit bigger for the part." He's a pretty different actor, and the two don't even look that much alike. That's never stopped Hollywood recasting before, but I feel like they've tried SLIGHTLY harder before. I mean, no one would ever confuse Katie Holmes for Maggie Gyllenhall, but there were similarities there. Cheadle is quite a bit darker than Howard, has a much slimmer face, is visibly older (even tho he's only actually got 4 years on the other actor)...the cynical part of me can't help but wonder if Hollywood just figured "no one'll notice as long as they're both black."

Another thing to keep in mind is the possibility (probability?) that Rhodes is going to spend a good amount of time in the War Machine armor anyway.

Actually, I only found out by accident. A coworker had CNN up on her desktop and I caught a glimpse of a headline that was something about her and Ritchie, so I went looking. I normally don't willingly see the bitch out.
