Often times on the meme, really interesting topics come up. They're not wanky or mean-spirited, but the prompt post is not the place for them. Until now, I've been directing them to the guidelines post, but from here on out, I'll direct them here. Discussions currently behind held on the other post may continue there, but new topics and ( Read more... )

I'm hoping the slut shamming isn't considered good discussion. Could you uh, freeze people doing that please?

Firstoff: Thanks to the anon who posted their concerns to the mod, this was honestly my major peeve. Props to the Mods for a timely reply. And sorry to flwrpwr_vampyre if I jumped a little hard, my reply wasn’t intended to be mean or attack you personally, but if it came of that way you have my most sincere apology. I’m one of those ‘disagree with what you say but defend to death your right to say it’ people and I enjoy this comm too much to watch it go downhill over what I felt was a misunderstanding.

I’m aware some of you think I’m a vile human being. Fine. Just PLEASE keep in mind that connotations applied to various words are neither inherent nor universal. Using the example which sparked this mire -Prostitute/ hooker/ whore hides from lightning bolt are all terms for people (not just women btw) who perform sexual favors for payment. Don’t get mad yet, this is a dictionary definable fact.

Connotatively: Where I grew up, a whore worked hard for long hours to take care of their family. Honestly, this label was as insulting as ( ... )

There was no reason for the OP to say 'not a cheap whore'. That is slut shamming. That is saying that if a woman had sex with Howard it made her a 'whore', that it made her bad. Requesting Peggy to be BAMF over and over does not make the fact that the OP felt the need to point out that oh no Peggy isn't like that speaks voulmes.

A kink meme should be sex postive. Not a place where gendered insults are thrown around out side requests for consenual dirty talk.

..No, it’d make Peggy not paid in exchange for sex. Payment in this case being a plane ride in exchange for a blowjob or something. OP doesn’t want Peggy having sex with Howard for a price. The ‘cheap’ thing was unnecessary, I’ll agree, but asking your millionaire friend with a private airplane to give you a 30mi ride and potentially save hundreds of lives shouldn’t have a price attached at all, let alone a high one. So again, reasonable, even if you don’t like the phrasing.

As for other women, if they had sex with Howard by their own free will and for a mutually agreed upon price, then yeah, they’re prostitutes because that’s literally the definition. Its true and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. AT ALL. Party A gets what they want, Party B gets what they want, everyone is happy. I bet someone could even use this sex for pay thing as, like, a business or something ( ... )

Ok, I'm finally here to talk to you. Sorry it took so long, I haven't had the internet at my house, just my phone and it takes so long to type on it that I was waiting to get to a computer. And I definitely didn't take it as a personal attack, so no worries there ( ... )

No worries chica, like I said, I wasn't aiming to call you out specifically.

I'm pretty sure I've beat the whole job aspect to death and frankly, I agree entirely. I could care less what someone has to do to survive so long as it doesn't infringe upon the rights of others.

I just see memes as a chance to practice my own abilities and enjoy the work of others so when someone gets down on a post, any post, which isn't specifically against the rules, it bugs me for the simple fact that it makes it seem like a less of an open, friendly place.
The idea of Peggy being in control of the situation while Howard drools after her is what caught my attention. Not that it matters, because the likelyhood of it being filled now is pretty much settled around 0.
Wording, prompts, and even fills have the potential to offend but a place where people feel unwelcome to post is worse of all. None of us wants that.

Not the OP, but I totally read the last part of that prompt ("she's a classy agent, not a cheap whore") as TONGUE IN CHEEK--not a serious statement about whether promiscuous women or sex workers are(n't) classy. I totally interpreted it as being written in character, like a flirty thing Peggy might say as she winks and trails her fingers teasingly across his knee. It's the 40's. They weren't as openminded about sex as us. They might've used this language. I read no offence into it at all.
