Steve was born in 1918, so he would be 26-27 if he went down in 1945.

Prop newspaper from Iron Man 1. "At 21, tragedy struck with the death of Howard Stark. Tony found himself the youngest CEO of a Fortune 500 company."

Screencap from Iron Man 1. "Washington D.C., Friday, December 17, 1991"
Tony was 21 in 1991. That means he turned 40 in Iron Man 2 (2010) and he will be 42 in 2012.

Actually, it says: "Then, the passing of a titan. Howard Stark's lifelong friend and ally, Obadiah Stane, steps in to help fill the gap left by the legendary founder, until, at age twenty-one, the prodigal son returns and is anointed the new CEO of Stark Industries."

It doesn't say, conclusively, that Tony was or wasn't twenty-one when his parents died, only that he took over when he was twenty-one. Stane likely stepped to make things transition easier and give Tony time to grieve. Tony really can't be any younger than that or the scene with him screwing up a take of Howard's 1974 Expo film wouldn't work because he wouldn't exist.

FWIW, there's also Tony's comment in Iron Man 2, when he says something along the lines of "Dead for twenty years, and still taking me to school," about Howard.

No, he said, "Dead for almost 20 years... still taking me to school". It could be 17, 18, 19 or whatever.
