Production Week!

Drama Club has been such an awesome experience. Even though I get annoyed with some of Mrs. Gillander's techniques after being exposed to other ways of doing things for four years, it has been wonderful. The kids are great...if not a little unfocused. And it's been nice being in a supervisory position. I'm actually being credited as Assistant Director as well, and I wasn't sure that she was going to give me that title. But if we want to get technical...my official title should probably be something like Assitant Director/Stage Manager/Prop Manager/Head Electrician/Technical Director...etc. etc. etc.

Today was a great day. Some of the actors didn't think it was that great, but we did get a lot done. And it was even fine amidst cries of "Tanner, put down that prop!" and "Curtis, stop playing with the lights!" I was in good humor for the whole day. Mrs. G...not so much. But we're getting there. After the actors went home, I bought dinner for Curtis, Andrew (Woodhams...remember Angela's brother? How little he used to be???) and I, and then we set to work re-focusing some lights, hanging some others, and rigging a giant spider to descend for the ceiling. The two of them are GREAT. Such hard workers. I'm really excited for Thursday to put the show up. It will be sad on Saturday though, because this show has given some meaning to my life. After this, it will be just waiting to be called to sub until LLDC starts up again mid-May.

So now...perhaps a movie and some reading before bed? Also, I am nursing myself, since I forgot that we moved a platform to the pit, and I turned the lights out so we could focus one of the stage lights, and the corner of the platform definitely connected with the CENTER of my shin. Bumps and blood and pain...no fun at ALL.

Hope everyone had as great a weekend as I did! GOD it feels good to be doing theatre again!
