I've been casually studying Brazilian Portuguese (not taking a class at this point). We have a huge Brazilian population here on the Cape now.
I've always loved studying foreign languages. At one point I was fluent in French, Russian, and Spanish.
However if I'm speaking Russian don't let me drive, because that only comes now out when I'm really stinking drunk.
The Brazilian Portuguese is very close to Spanish and I can recognize a lot of words. It's the pronunciation that's the kicker. I have to slow down and re-train myself to pronounce certain consonants and combinations. It's actually a very beautiful language to listen to.
