I called out from work today. Ellen woke up yesterday with the most ridiculous case of pinkeye I have ever seen in my life- it's been over twenty four hours and the sight of her eye yesterday morning is still haunting me. As a Catholic, I've always grown up with a creche as a part of my yuletide festivities. It just goes part and parcel with the holiday season. Getting back to Mason usually takes three hours, give or take. Today it took almost seven. SEVEN HOURS in the car, and it didn't even look like much of it was Thanksgiving related- most of it was roadwork. Elliot was pretty great for the first half, cranky for much of the second half. I vividly remember going pumpkin picking a year ago. October was right around the time that it was becoming blindingly clear that A.B. Miree was a severe miscarriage of an educational institution. I do not recommend flying with a one year old. In all likelihood, I will not be able to recommend flying with a two, three, or four year old and onwards into teenager-dom... but I really don't recommend flying with a one year old.
