Paige was going to try a new tactic this time around. Yes, she was still incredibly angry at this revelation of Jono and some girl in her future but it really wouldn't do to dwell on it now. If they were going to start fresh, then she would have to forgive everything with no questions asked. And really, she wanted to try and make this work. He just needed to see that she was plenty grown up and could handle this adult relationship!

And so she had borrowed a skirt from Monet-- one that would have made her mother flip out if she ever knew her daughter was wearing it-- put on just a little makeup, and read a few romance novels beforehand. Just in case she needed a good line to say.

"Come in," Paige opened the door for Jono, smiling just a bit bashfully.

"Ta," Jono said, and suppressed the urge to go completely cheesy on her right off the bat with some line about how lovely she was. Because she really did look it. Especially in that skirt.

"You look nice," he ended up saying, and hung up his coat. Compliments never hurt, unless you were eighteen and Paige was ignoring you.

He actually noticed!

And said something nice!

... was this plan actually working? It was too soon to tell. She didn't want to get her hopes up and look too eager.

"Thanks. Do you want a drink?" Yeah, Paige wasn't exactly good at hiding her feelings, so she was all but beaming at Jono after the compliment.

Wow. Wow, she was smiling and happy and he'd missed this terribly; more than he'd allowed himself to think.

"Just water, thanks," he accepted, following her out of the hallway and into the living room. His throat was still sore from his little encounter with the Death twins - not that Paige needed to know about that; at least, not right away - and anything more than tea tended to burn. "How was your day?"

Safe topics. Happy topics. They could do this.

"The usual. Nothing out of the ordinary. Read a lot of emails I wish I hadn't."

The slight hoarseness in his voice wasn't hard to miss. Every so often he would clear his throat, too. Instead of water, Paige went to put up some tea. She was concerned. Was he getting sick?

"It sounds like you might be losing your voice. Do you have a cold?" Paige came out of the kitchen a few moments later with a mug of hot tea. "Here, drink this."

"I bet," Jono saw a lot of things he wished he didn't when investigating with the force, but it might be slightly different on Paige's end of things. Still, he could sympathize.

"Not exactly," Jono said, but knew his protestations that water would be fine would fall on deaf ears, so let her put the kettle on. "I think Sean must have had some sort of secret to being able to scream all day and still be able to swallow his food at supper."

He took the mug with thanks, but held it instead of drinking it right away. "You're not having anything, then?"

Sitting down wasn't exactly in Paige's plans when she had put on this skirt. This was going to be a little difficult. Somehow she managed to do so, crossing her legs before anything indecent could get flashed. She was sitting extremely close to Jono, their legs almost touching.

Well. No reason to be shy now, right?

"I'm fine. Just drink that, it'll make you feel better."

Yep. Still smiling at you stupidly, Jono. Paige was keeping their fight in the back of her mind but felt better after he actually explained himself. She still didn't know where this put them, though.

"Oh. You're sure?"

She seemed sure. Jono sipped distractedly. Paige was sitting very close, and it was interrupting his thoughts before they could even begin.

"Are we good, then?" She certainly seemed to be signalling that they were, but he wanted to be sure.

And moving closer with every second that passed by until she was all but sitting in his lap.

"I think so," Paige said carefully. "I want to be. Do you?"

At this rate, he was going to spill the tea all over himself and it would be all her fault. Jono didn't mind as much as he probably should have.

"Yeah," he said, with equal care, and set the mug down on the table for safety's sake. "I really do."

His voice wasn't rough from just power damage alone, now.

Since the mug was out of the way, Paige took that as her cue that she could hug Jono. So, she did. There had been such a huge amount of stress and anguish the last week or so after their talk and so the fact that they were on good terms again was a huge sigh of relief.

There was nothing she could really do. She cared about him too much to just let him go.

It was a sad thought that in the future, she eventually would, but for now, Paige wanted to avoid that at all costs.

To say Jono was caught by surprise would be a lie; he wrapped his arms around Paige and pulled her close. Not hard, since she was already nearly in his lap, but Jono was tired of the constant distancing, both physical and emotional, that so often went on between them.

He really needed to learn to pay attention to what was right in front of him, instead of what might be coming or what had passed. He owed it to her to make her happy then, and to hell with all other possibilities.

...alright, now he really wanted to kiss her. That wasn't moving too fast, was it? It was easy enough to turn a little and press a kiss near the crown of her head. Momentary, sweet... not really what Jono was eventually aiming for, but the last thing he wanted to do was bollocks up this chance.

That was all the consent Paige needed before she was actually IN his lap and kissing him. It was kind of funny that here she was, the good and naive girl from the South and she was the one who had to make the first move half of the time.

Jono really needed to man up a little, didn't he?

Considering Paige would give him hell over the littlest things, Jono was always slightly hesitant to initiate anything she might not want, but apparently her whole rant about never giving him second chances was a load of bollocks, because here she was practically plastered all over him.

Not that he minded, of course. Hypocrisy - especially this sort of hypocritical action - he fully condoned. And so he tangled one hand in her hair and dropped the other lower on her waist, pulling her firmly against him as they continued to snog.

Sam was just strolling to check up on his sister, as he did sometimes. Not at all too freqently, but his big brother senses just compelled him to visit her place today. Since he usually never knocked, he just walked on in to see Jono groping his sister.

Sam's eyes narrowed, and he folded his arms. What in the hell was up with this guy? Was he just using his sister to get under her clothes?

"Jono," he uttered in the most brotherly tone he could manage.

There is a God, and he hates Jono.

Sam Guthrie's unexpected and unwelcome advent put a stop to any second-basing that might have thusly transpired, and Jono, trapped for the most part under Paige still, ran through possible replies in his head in lieu of panicking completely.

"Alright, Sam?" Was what he ended up saying, albeit rather weakly.
