Although Ruka always kept her communicator close at hand even while she slept, the low vibration of a new post was not enough to stir her from rest. The volume, turned too low to hear, did not cause her to stir. This was, perhaps, unfortunate.
What did wake her, however, was something quite more unusual. Under blankets and sleeves and gloves she wore even while sleeping lay etched into her skin a very distinct mark, a "birthmark" she had not been born with. It was glowing. Glowing very brightly, and with such a light came a familiar pain. Ruka's fingers tightened against her stuffed bear as she slowly awoke, her eyes bleary as she shifted up to stare at her arm. "It burns," she murmured quietly to no one, slowly tugging down her sleeve and glove to examine the mark. It didn't feel like she was in danger -- perhaps one of the others had been Ported into the City? Maybe it was Yuusei, or Miss Aki, returning here once more -- maybe even Jack Atlus, whose face Ruka could only remember from Rua's old posters, and not really the man himself.
Well, if it was one of them, surely they would post to the network soon, wouldn't they? She reached towards her bedside table for the device when the pain in her arm began to spike, and the glow brightened -- in the dark room, Ruka had to shield her eyes from her own arm -- before it stopped as suddenly as it had come.
It room was dark, but not so dark that Ruka could not see her bare arm. See the bareness of her arm.
