This time, she'd made it painfully obvious. Left the skylight open, a rope dangling down into the dim room below. A parody of her usual method. If this didn't draw him out...

Selina Kyle was generally a realist. A pessimist, even. Part of her knew that if Batman hadn't shown up before this, he really had been ported home. But she just couldn't accept that he'd vanished to face some future where he was... gone. A future that maybe she'd played some part in bringing about. A future where she didn't know if she ever had the chance to...

Damn, but did she loathe Edward Nigma right now.

She strolled through the exhibits, aimlessly killing time. A Signac caught her eye. Part of a collection she'd lifted back in the day. Being intimately familiar with the work -- removing it from the frame had been painstakingly slow -- it jumped out as a fake right away. Not that unusual, really. Even the Louvre had its share. In a more generous mood, she might have swiped it and let the institution recoup the insurance.

Instead, she loosened the whip from her belt, viciously lashing the painting to shreds. Her last blow intentionally jostled the frame. Setting off the silent alarm.

Selina leaned against the wall and waited.
