WHO: Raven and Tonks WHERE: A city shopping mall. WHEN: Monday Afternoon? WARNINGS: Shopping. SUMMARY: Raven and Tonks go Christmas shopping, Raven rambles about how decisions are hard. FORMAT: Para to start. Whatever is fine.
Tonks shrugged her shoulders. "I can't tell much of a difference, personally speaking." She unzipped her brown coat and then looked around. There were an awful lot of stores and shopes. Tonks didn't know where they should start first.
"Everyone." Her list was long. "I have a few things but I'm not even close to done. What about you?"
"Six people. And then maybe more. But my goal is six people." She grinned as she looked around. "Some of them will be easier than others, I think..." Raven liked to shop. And not be cold, so she was enjoying the whole 'being inside' thing.
She wasn't entirely sure where to start though, and she turned a bit here and there to consider. "Clothes first?"
"Six? You're lucky." Tonks didn't wish that she just had six people to buy for. She liked being able to give. "Tell you what, if you see something you want, let me know and I'll get it for you." At least it would be a gift that Raven liked.
Again, Tonks looked back down the massive cooridoors. "Yeah... But which shop first?" There were several. "I know I need to get Mum a pair of shoes." That was something of a tradition with Tonks.
"Shoes work. And then sweaters. Charles is getting a sweater." Unless she thought of something else, anyway. She turned around again, until she spotted what she thought was a shoe store and headed that way.
"Here, this way. Who else are you shopping for besides your mother?"
"No, I don't think I'll get her a jumper. I already found a bag for her." Still, she needed a pair of shoes to match.
Tonks followed behind Raven. "Well, there's Luna, all the Weasleys... Bloody hell. What am I going to get Fred and George?" They were probably the hardest people to shop for on her list. And there were many people besides those that Tonks had just mentioned.
"Other than Charles, who do you have to shop for?"
"Erik, Hank, Angelica, you...well, I can't do that today...and Scatty." Raven talked as she walked, ticking people off on her fingers. And then she stuck out another. "And I should probably get something for that alien girl that is always around Erik." She had no idea what to do for that one.
"Maybe I could just get everyone sweaters." She said with a bit of a silly grin as she headed into the store and looked at all the shoes.
"I like dragonflies," Tonks adds helpfully. "Alien girl? What alien girl?"
Tonks enters the shoe store and starts to browse the women's section. She knows what she wants to get for her mother. The bag has been purchased and the shoes should coordinate. That just leaves the style. Flats? Heels? Open-toed? Briefly, she eyes a pair of purple and gray sequined flats. Those are cute but Tonks shakes her head. She is not shopping for herself.
"You could." Tonks is not helpful. "I know someone who used to that, she'd knit them herself."
"I am not knitting anything, Tonks." Raven grinned at that. "And right, Dragonflies. Check." She made a little mental note. What could she get with dragonflies on it...
"Alien girl. Uh. Nepeta? She's maybe thirteen, types on the network with this...cat...typing...thing." Raven had no idea how to describe that quirk. She just followed after Tonks as the other looked at shoes, occasionally picking one up.
"I'm not knitting anything. I can buy a jumper far more easily than I could ever knit or make one." Tonks shakes her head. Knitting is just not for her. "I've never met anyone named Nepeta. What's she doing hanging around Erik?"
She eyes a pair of gray kitten-heels. Tonks even goes so far as to lift them out of the box and examine them. Andromeda might like these shoes. "What do you think?
"Apparently keeping him and Charles from falling apart. Or something. I'm honestly not sure. I don't understand any of that, really..." She trailed off, considering the shoes Tonks was holding out.
Keeping Erik and Charles from falling apart? Tonks turns around and looks at Raven. "What?" Seriously, what? You must provide the juicy details, Raven.
"Yeah. D'you think she'll like these?" Tonks thinks that this pair will be good for both work and play, but mainly work.
"Yeah I don't know. That's how she described it. Like she's playing relationship councilor or something. Maybe I'll get her one of those flip notebooks shrinks use..."
Raven considered the shoes again. She'd spoken to Tonks's mom once, but it hadn't really drifted towards shoe tastes. "...Maybe?"
"I don't know. They might just be humoring her. I didn't know how to ask." Raven shrugged, her eyes a bit distant for a moment at Raven's second question. "Doesn't really matter if I do or not, does it?" She shrugged.
"Well, then you should know what kind of shoes she likes, right? Go with what seems right."
"Yeah, it does matter. I know what it's like to have feelings go unrequited. It's a bunch of bloody bollocks. Some people wouldn't know a perfect good thing if it bit them on the arse." Tonks isn't exactly bitter, she just knows what it's like. (Yeah, no. She's bitter.)
Tonks makes a sound. It's so much easier to shop when someone just tells her what to purchase.

Tonks puts the shoes back. She'll think about it. "I'll keep looking. I always get her a pair of shoes for Christmas, ever since I was little."

"They seem...alright together." Man that was strange to say. "So it doesn't matter."
