Tom really had been enjoying the time he'd spent with Laura, and the fact that they'd been seeing each other almost every day, even if it was just for training, which meant Tom was usually thankful whenever that time was over, only because he usually battered and bruised until the afternoon when he finished recovering. He enjoyed it though, in the part of him that he'd never admit to or acknowledge even existing, and, really, he felt good, more energetic... stronger.

It was overdue for the two of them to spend time together that wasn't just in a master and pupil sense. He didn't go all conventional with the red and white checkered blanket or the wicker picnic basket, but he'd at least chosen a good location in a clearing, under a tree. He'd set down what looked like an old queen sized comforter, a large pizza from one of the local shops sitting on it, along with a backpack full of beer, water, some sodas... Just about any drink you could find at a convenience store.

"Hey," He waved, walking over to her and completely missing that she was looking for safe positions in the area... Tom, of course, never thinking of things like that despite being in the game for a year or two now and even knowing how this place worked. "I've wanted to do this with you for a while now, really. Work just kind of got in the way." He rubbed the back of his neck a little. That was mostly true, he'd been working more in the past month or so than he had in years, and it usually meant his free time was for sleeping. "I, uh, hope you like it."

Laura was silent as Tom approached, just watching him in that vaguely unsettling way she had, her arms crossed. She imagined she was supposed to offer to help him set things up, but she didn't really know what went ware so she had remained quiet and simply waited.

She nodded her head at him. "I have never been to a picnic before." She said, considering the blanket and the...pizza. She wasn't entirely sure pizza was the right thing, really, but she wasn't going to complain about it. She liked pizza. "It sounds...interesting." She finally finished, suspecting she was supposed to say something else.

"You should relax, though." She could hear his heart beat, after all. "Thank you for inviting me."

Tom, for once in his life, didn't mind doing all the work. After all, isn't that what he was supposed to do on a date like this? He'd invited her out here this afternoon, so he was supposed to take care of everything.

"I know it's not much. I tried to cook, if you can even call it that, and you probably can tell how well, that went." He laughs a little, calming down at her suggestion as he sat down. "I've been wanting to do something with you for a while now. You know, something that doesn't involve my personal injury."

"You are getting better at avoiding personal injury, anyway." She said with the barest hint of a smile as she moved to sit down opposite him, crossing her legs.

"Pizza is fine, anyway. I have always liked it." She didn't eat it often, but she did like it.
