this happens on....a day....sometime. screwmeister August 14 2011, 02:28:43 UTC
On this occasion Stein did the stumbling upon--Zelgadis was already practicing when he wandered past.

It was enough to prompt him to stop and watch, wearing that passive smile of his. How wonderfully creepy.

Was it just deja vu he felt? That...that eerie tingle that suddenly shot up his spine mid-swing. He wasn't as subject to the weather as he once was, but even if it was...it was summer. Why the chill?

Why, indeed. He threw extra power into the last swing, enough to allow himself to forcibly turn on his heel.

And lo.

The scowl was instantaneous.

Him again. He was still around? Why?

To torment Zelgadis, of course. Stein's true purpose in life was to mystify and horrify teenagers everywhere.

"Hi," he said pleasantly, raising one hand in a wave. "Looks like we meet again."

"Unfortunately," he grumbled, driving his sword into the dirt, hands on the pommel. "What the hell do you want this time?"

"Do I always have to want something from you? Maybe I was just passing by."

He looked so benign it practically had to be fake, right?

"Then keep passing," Zelgadis snapped, expression souring by the second.

"I'd much rather watch," Stein assured him pleasantly. "You seem to have a little talent and I find it very interesting."

"I don't care what interests you," he snapped again, growing impatient. Stein may have been from another world, but Zelgadis couldn't help but imagine purple hiding under those glasses and that musty, cobweb hair. Couldn't help imagining that guy living off of other people's misery, just like Xellos and the lot of them back home. It wouldn't surprise him in the least after surprising him.

"I'm not interested in having an audience. Especially you."

"I don't understand where all this hostility comes from."

Stein remained infuriatingly calm, a little smirk playing on his lips. Zelgadis was interesting if only because of how little Stein had to do to piss him off. Apparently merely existing was enough.

"Is it something I said?"

"I'm not interested in discussion, either." Zelgadis' voice dropped to an annoyed grumble - a growl, even. It ended with a harrumph from the nose as he straightened. The sword tilted as his weight shifted, hands still balanced on the pommel.

"Say nothing else and go."

"I think you're being awfully rude."

It seemed that Stein had no intention of just buggering off, and though he still wore a pleasant expression there was something less pleasant lurking underneath it.

Of course at the root of things he was just curious...curious to know why Zelgadis always became so worked up at the mere sight of him.
