Charles seemed somewhat eager then to talk about what he'd learned. He was all-too glad that Erik did not seem more upset with his earlier betrayal; having worked so hard to keep an entire bar still and under his control while at the same time behaving entirely more drunk than he actually was could be quite the feat. He had been his most worried that Erik would feel he did not trust him -- which was only partially the truth. Charles had been, at the deepest, worried that Erik having gotten involved at all, even to help, could have set off all of the others here in the City who did not trust him. He seemed to be thinking more deeply about this as he frowned at himself. It was a truly unfortunate thing that he and Erik could not do their best to protect those in the City during the riots, but who was to say that Erik's attempts at help would not ignite the distrust of others trying to help and cause even more problems? Charles did not often doubt himself or his methods, but he'd taken quite a hit from knowing there was so much ( ... )

Erik had initially been unsure of Charles' intentions in keeping him from the riots. He was more confident about it now, even if they had not actually directly discussed the matter. It increasingly seemed as though Charles had been motivated by his fear of the reactions of others, not completely out of a mistrust of Erik himself and his self-control when put in such a volatile situation. Erik supposed that was a legitimate concern. He could quite clearly see how certain individuals-- his son in particular-- would mistake his attempts in damage control as an effort to make the situation worse ( ... )

Charles' eyes lit up easily as his friend began to speak genetics with him, and it reminded him why he loved his company so desperately. At first upon arriving to the City, he had been somewhat upset to be there without Erik -- though he'd felt he could handle it. Not now, not after having Erik so close and remembering how fond he was of their conversations, of his companionship. It quickly dawned on Charles that without Erik, he'd have most assuredly been intellectually miserable. He took another sip of his drink, smiling up at Erik.

"I had read as much. There is an incredible wealth.. of information. I ought to learn how to use that personal computer of mine soon," he murmured, laughing. "I am sure it is not hard, ah, but I am wary nonetheless." he chuckled, shaking his head at himself and feeling rather foolish.

Erik's second drink soon arrived and he thanked the waitress before taking a long sip of it and setting it down on the table. He felt quite bad for Charles in having to spend two days being uncertain if he would ever arrive in the City. He had sympathy for Raven as well, though it seemed that she had managed to make some good friends in that time. Erik was glad for that. He knew that Raven was rather attached to him, but there were moments where he felt that her attentions were better focused elsewhere. She could still seem so young and innocent to him at times, even if he knew that she would object very strongly if he ever said such a thing ( ... )

Smirking up at him yet again, Charles chuckled. "I still don't quite understand the Internet myself, though I suppose it would not be a good idea for me to say such a thing -- lest I allow Raven to call me an old man yet again." he said, smile clearly displaying his amusement with the prospect. He crossed his fingers together and leaned them on the table they shared, crossing his legs and humming quite a bit.

There was much for Charles to learn, and though it was a daunting task at best, he was eager. Very eager. It showed in his eyes as he thought, as well as his voice when he spoke. "But as she said, I must adapt. After all, it will not be as embarrassing for me if you are there as well having just as much difficulty as myself." he said, smirking with pleasure and taking another sip of his drink with a laugh.
