FORMAT: paragraph.

So far, the week hadn't been going too badly for Ed. While things may or may not be still kind of awkward after the V-Day Hellweekend of Doom, at least he'd gotten to kick some badguy ass and dispose of a so-called god of vengeance. But the apartment was still low on soda and a few other things after the attack there, so he'd finally motivated himself to go out and get some groceries.

It'd been a long walk to a store outside of Chinatown - because while he had decided that Chinese food was deliciously addictive, he knew even less about cooking it than regular food - but the weather was fair and Ed needed some time to himself to think. The plastic bags in his hands were full of microwaveable and pre-packaged snacks, and even a small carton of milk. Not his of course, but Al was still just a kid and should probably drink the wreched, disgusting cow-juice.

As he walked by a narrow, dim alley, a soft, unmistakeable mew made him pause. He turned, peering into the shadows and saw a tiny orange kitten pawing at the side of an overstuffed trashcan, too small to reach whatever rubbish that smelled appealing to its little kitty nose.

"Poor thing," Ed murmurred. He was just glad Al wasn't here - his brother would probably insist they take it home and keep it and pet it and love it and name it George. But as it continued to mew, Ed sighed and crept carefully into the alley so as not to startle it. He found a discarded plastic lid from a fast-food cup, and poured some of the milk into it, and pushed it towards the kitten, smiling as it began to drink.

...And hm, maybe they should get a pet. Now that they had a more-or-less permanant place to live.
