You know how quests kind of...mutate? First they're sending you to pick up a skull, next thing you know, you're fighting a spectral dragon? Well, maybe that's a poor example. There are no skulls or spectral dragons involved here, but the recent reconnaissance mission has certainly morphed into something it wasn't intended to be at the start. To begin with, Zevran was just supposed to check for weaknesses in the security of a warehouse owned by a museum. Apparently they'd been storing some works of art in there for long enough that the security system should have been out of date.
Well, it was. The problem was that someone else had gotten to the place first. Unlike Mara Jade and her more highbrow smuggling operation, however, they weren't interested in the art itself. These guys were interested in the fact that it was rather neglected and full of storage space. Storage space that is now being used to hold weapons. Lots of weapons.
Normally, upon finding this out, Zevran would quietly excuse himself from the area and get in touch with Mara again for more orders. But surrounded by the towering metal of the warehouse district, his phone's signal fluctuates and winks out, and that's when he decides that technology really is terribly unreliable, and he should just investigate further on his own. Which means that he's still there hours later when the people currently using it decide to hold a meeting there. A meeting that involves handing guns out like candy.
Luckily for him, he has a nice little stealth power with which he can just quietly wink himself out of view before anyone sees anything. Or so he assumes. He's also assuming that the meeting will simply happen and its participants will go on their merry way afterwards, somewhat more heavily armed than before. Unless the police come or something, but he didn't see any of them around earlier. And anyway, besides the police, it's not like anyone who would want to get involved is unsubtle enough to disrupt something like this, right?
Right?
