We have fallen down again tonight

WHO: battothefuture and supertorso
WHERE: TERRY'S HOUSE I THINK?
WHEN: SOME TIME AFTER KARA GOT BACK.
WARNINGS: man it's these two there should be awkwardness and fluff all over everything but that's about it.
SUMMARY: So that thing where Kara suddenly got ported out before suddenly getting ported back in caused him to reevaluate his life and tell her that he loved her.

She was slightly freaked out by this, and now I suspect awkward is going to get over everything.
FORMAT: WORDS. Actually I don't really care, do what you want to, Kat.

It had been a long and boring night, but Terry was mostly at peace with that fact. He was, after all, used to long hours with little sleep by now, so it wasn't like it was anything new, and it wasn't like the night had been entirely fruitless; he did have some information that would be useful in the database he was slowly assembling on this particular crime ring, and every little step until action....

It was hard, learning to work by himself, but Terry did it. He guessed, when he bothered thinking about it that way, that it was good practice for the day, after he went back home, that Bruce finally died, if he ever would die. Sometimes Terry doubted that, doubted the old man's mortality, for all that he'd seen about Bruce's troubles with his heart and the medications he took and his aches and his limp, just because mountains would give way under the sheer weight of his personality. It was a strange and foreign thought, to try to imagine him gone. It'd be like here, sort of, but without the knowledge that some day, any day, he might be uprooted and spun back to somewhere that he still was, the grumpy old sadist, hunched at his computer and performing technological miracles which half the time Terry didn't understand and half the time were done using outdated techniques.

Kara was back. Kara was back, she was back, back, back, she remembered him, remembered everything (or he assumed; how would one check?) which, given the apparent odds against such an event....

He'd slipped back in and let Lady out - she was big by now, still with some of that puppy lankiness and clumsy too-big paws, but almost an adult, entirely too nosy for Sassy's taste most of the time, and prone to an odd combination of trying to get into everything or assuming that she was small enough to be a lapdog, and who had a habit of getting underfoot whenever possible. The apartment seemed a lot smaller than it used to, but that seemed okay.

"Your mom's back, Sass," Terry murmured as he ran his fingers through Sassy's fur and she arched her back against his hand. "She should be by soon."
