SUMMARY: Before turning everyone into kids, Alex Wilder uncovered the Major's lair using the Abstract and secretly put together a team to investigate it. 'Investigate' being a euphemism for breaking in, killing everything that's hostile, and looting everything that isn't nailed down and on fire.

It was not their first time waiting. The Sturmbahnfuhrer had fallen into enemy hands before, and the procedure now was the same as it had been then. Lay low. Prepare defences and weapons. Train. Observe. Ensure that everything is in readiness for when the Major returns.
More than anything else, secrecy has always been their first and best line of defense. The Major has impressed upon them again and again the vital importance of this facility, how lucky they are to have a secret, fortified base right beneath their theatre of operations. That base’s security depends on it remaining hidden.
Because of that, as they wait they execute their orders. Order 1: "Ensure continued bunker security." And if Order 1 did not work out, they would execute Order 2: "If bunker security is ever compromised, if anyone dares to enter Millennium’s sanctuary beneath the City, then no intruder can be allowed to leave alive."
