Charlie had been restless. It had taken weeks for the sneezing that the new magic whatchamacallit had caused in her to fade enough that she could go out on patrol again. Between Babs disappearing, Steph being a huge pain in the ass and getting shot in the neck, she ahd a lot of aggression to work out. So she was bouncing through the city look for crimes what with which she could FOIL. It was going to be awesome.
Except that after two hours she hadn't actually found any. She'd bought a soda though, and she was sipping it as she walked along the edge of a roof, her cape fluttering in the evening breeze and making those rip-rip-rustle sounds fabric always did when it whipped about. The sound was just loud enough that she almost missed the scream of fear from half a block away. Almost.
She bounced towards the sound, coming up on the edge of a rooftop and peering down to see a pair of young woman in clubbing clothes being accosted by three rather scruffy looking individuals. A mugging! Or worse. The men didn't seem all that dangerous, just ordinary thugs armed with knives and a handgun, but it was certainly enough to get whatever they wanted out of the poor women. Well. Charlie wasn't going to let that happen.
She set her soda down on the edge of the roof and then promptly hoped over the edge, vanishing in a flash of pink just as she started to fall. She reappeared a split second later directly above the thug with the gun, letting gravity carry her down to smash into his shoulders with her sneakers, driving him into the basement with a rather unsettling crunch. "DARK VENGEANCE!" She shouted, her voice echoing in the narrow alley. The two women screamed again, but Charlie ignored them, her attention on the other two thugs as she crouched on the back of the semi-conscious man she'd just squished. The men looked surprised, but it faded into anger after a second, and they charged towards her.
Charlie heard the women turn to run, but she put it out of her mind and stood up, bracing herself to fend them off. She couldn't manage to hold in the grin that settled on her face. Finally, something to beat up.
