Angelica had been feeling better over the last few weeks, though the nature of her condition dictated that she had to make regular visits to the clinic to check on the state of her recovery. She'd been trying to do just as Dr. Mid-Nite and Night Nurse had told her. She was taking things easy, eating healthy, getting lots of sleep, laying off using her powers, and still coming in for her chemotherapy appointments, and she figured it was just a matter of time before she got the all-clear and would be told she didn't need the treatments anymore.

Today wasn't a chemo day though. She'd been feeling a little weaker than usual, unable to keep any food down and having a general feeling of lethargy. Normally she'd just say she had the flu and confine herself to bed, drinking lots of water and eating chicken soup, but since she still was battling the 'Big C', she wanted to stop by the clinic. Just in case. She hadn't wanted to worry anyone though, so she hadn't mentioned it to Pietro or to anyone at the Institute, instead opting to take a taxi to the clinic on her own.

She walked into the clinic slowly, forcing forth her biggest, brightest smile, waving to Yukina even though she felt very tired and very weak. "Hi. I... I don't feel so well."

(ooc: Gah, sorry for the delay! I came down with a stomach bug and was feeling horrid all weekend)

"Come on inside an examination room," said Yukina. "I'll be happy to help you."

She wasn't formally trained as a doctor, but she had decades of training as a healer. Not that she looked as if she was even legally an adult. Her people aged very slowly and had extremely long natural lifespans, and Yukina was short with rounded features. The concept of 'legal age' still confused her, but she chalked it up to being a human thing and left it at that.

Yukina didn't know Angelica well, but she recalled speaking to her before. She held the door open to one of the examination rooms and smiled softly at her. Just by looking at the way Angelica moved, Yukina observed the fatigue and admired Angelica's effort to be pleasant in spite of the fact that she clearly wasn't feeling her best.

"Please have a seat," she added, motioning to a chair. Yukina avoided using the Clinic's examination tables when possible, on account of her own small size. It seemed pointless to have someone sit up on one of those when she had to step up on a stool to examine them properly.

"Thank you,"Angelica nodded, following Yukina into the examination room, slumping into the chair without any word of question or protest. She remembered the brief conversation she'd had with Yukina before, and she recalled how sweet and gentle she'd been on what could have been the worst day of Angelica's life. It didn't matter at all the Yukina seemed young, Angie was grateful for the help and kindness.

"I'm not sure if you remember me, my name is Angelica Jones. I was admitted here a few months ago to treat my breast cancer. Doctor Mid-Nite helped treat me, and I'm told I'm in remission, but I think I may be coming down with the flu or something." As if on cue, Angelica started to shiver, which was odd, considering her mutant ability to generate heat usually allowed her to stay toasty and warm. "Either way, I wanted to check in here, just in case."

"I remember speaking to you," said Yukina with a nod. She knew how to use some of the basic equipment and what certain things like a person's temperature and their blood pressure meant. She was still more accustomed to her homeland's methods of taking care of others, but it was interesting to see what medical methods had been developed.

"What symptoms have you had so far, and how long have you been having them?" she asked.

Well, chills for one, she mentally noted.

She paused, expression thoughtful as she hugged her arms around herself, trying to stay warm. It would be easy to just use her powers and radiate some heat, but she was trying to be careful about using them too much. Radiation had caused her cancer, after all. "I've been very tired, since last night I guess. But I was so restless last night, it was hard to fall asleep. And I've been unable to eat. My stomach is in knots. Every time I try to eat or drink anything, I feel nauseous."

With a frown, she added, "I just feel achy and tired all over, really."

She considered for a moment. Normally, from what she knew of human medicine, symptoms like these had to persist for a few days in order to make an effective diagnosis. From her own experience, it was best to simply heal the illness. She'd been able to save Hiei and Yusuke from that horrible illness months ago. It wasn't so much that she could cure, so much as heal and purify with her powers.

She retrieved a light blanket from the cupboard in the examination room and offered it to Angelica.

"I can heal you...but you should probably put this around you, first. A lot of people find they feel cold while I'm healing them."

"Thank you." The idea of feeling real and genuine cold was sort of fascinating to Angie, but she obediently wrapped herself up in the blanket, watching Yukina with great curiosity. She wasn't sure what to expect, but she was so grateful for the assistance, she wasn't about to bother Yukina with too many questions. Except maybe one. Or two. "Do I just sit here? Do I need to stay still or anything?"

"As long as you don't move around too much it's fine," said Yukina. "You don't need to be perfectly still, but I do need you to stay in one place while I'm working."

The petite ice apparition took a slow, deliberate breath and channelled some of her healing energy around her hands.

"Please brace yourself. It won't take long, but if you're already feeling chills it might feel unpleasant until I've finished healing you."

Yukina gave Angelica a moment to do just that before gently laying her hands on Angelica's shoulders to begin her healing work. As she manipulated the restorative energy, Angelica might feel something akin to frigid water flowing around her, although there was nothing actually drenching her.

It felt so strange, like she was swimming in the Arctic Ocean or something. Angie didn't really have the words to describe just how cold it was, and while it was tempting to warm herself up a bit, she refrained, not knowing what that would do during the healing process. And she remained perfectly still, only flinching a little as Yukina's cold little hands lay on her shoulder and the tiny lady worked her magic.

Angelica stayed silent too, save for the slight chattering of her teeth, watching Yukina intently before closing her eyes and trying to relax into the cold. It wasn't too terribly cold, given time to adjust, though it was certainly far colder than what she was used to. Angie couldn't help but wonder how Yukina learned such a technique. To say the least, she was impressed.

After a couple of minutes, Yukina was finished. She pulled her hands away and removed that cold yet restorative energy. Although she had focused on using her powers to alleviate the flu symptoms, the healing had gone a little deeper than that. Yukina's powers weren't a cure for anything per se, but they could heal damage the body had endured as the result of illness. It was likely that Angelica would find herself feeling better than she had in a while - a little more energetic, perhaps.

"I hope that helped," she said, taking a moment to catch her breath. She could use her powers all day, but pausing and not doing it continuously was important.

The change seemed instantaneous. One second, Angie felt cold, sick, and weak, and the next she could feel the warmth returning to her body and a sudden rush of energy coursing through her. The flu symptoms were gone, and so too was the perpetual weakness and drain on her body that had accompanied the last few months of chemotherapy and drug cocktails. It was like all the chemical damage had been undone, and even though she knew it was only temporary, Angelica felt like she was brand new.

It was an overwhelming sensation, feeling healthy again, so overwhelming that Angie had to blink back the tears welling up in her eyes, though she had an impossibly large smile on her face. "I feel... amazing. Better than I've felt all year. Thank you, Yukina. From the bottom of my heart, thank you."

It was moments like this that made Yukina glad to be a healer. It wasn't that Yukina wanted to see anyone cry, but she knew the difference between tears of joy and sorrowful tears. Although she didn't know Angelica's medical history in detail, she did remember the condition she'd been in on that first communicator post.

"I'm glad that I was able to help," she said, inclining her head in a small bow. "Please let me know if you need anything else, and don't hesitate to come to me for more healing whenever you need it."
