Plans were always easier said than done, but honestly? Jaime thought it was pretty simple. As far as taking down someone who can kill just by touching them could be, really. And no kidding--Scarab was at a loss as to how to counter that miasma of Mortis' outside of the handy dandy forcefield. Well, at a nonlethal loss--it went without saying that the tactical nuking of a City block was out of the question, and given the learning curve of the Scarab, it wasn't even brought up for discussion. She may kill people, but the Blue Beetle does not.

And fortunately, they weren't the lone superheroing force in town, so even if Jaime was vulnerable, there were better options for taking down a baddie. Ted Kord's return was practically a Godsend for how perfectly timed it was; a quick reconnect with the inventor extraordinaire and Jaime found himself with a (possibly) surefire means of getting Mortis off the streets and into a cell. The Scarab's forcefield could box her in, sure, but it would only last for as long as his power did, and it went without saying that Jaime couldn't just stand around toting a crazy killer in a bubble to work and whatnot. With Ted's help, now there was a way to replicate that same field remotely, freeing up hands and taking care of that whole smoke-of-death problem.

Easy enough in theory, except there was just the activating it thing to worry about. The remote field had four separate pieces that needed to be tacked down as a perimeter, where beams would fire and make the box complete. Going solo, Jaime would have to juggle a life-or-death brawl with Miss Murderfingers with trying to inconspicuously plant the trap and keep her in the perimeter to make it work.

That would suck and probably fail if he was going solo, but that wasn't the case. Dazzler was on standby, ready to rush in and keep Mortis busy while Jaime made with the forcefielding. If all went well, it'd be a quick victory with a good end.

Now it was just a matter of the doing, once all things were said. Jaime went to work right after contacting Dazzler, flying over the City and scanning for that familiar energy signature that was Mortis. Once he found it, he'd ping his partner's comm with the coordinates, and they'd get to work.
