WARNINGS: Awkward. Lots and lots of awkward. Also, some bonding.
SUMMARY: Joey invites Slade over for Father's Day. Slade cannot think of a way to avoid it accepts!
FORMAT: Words.
When he first received the invitation, there were a number of things that immediately came to mind. Personal vows, past experiences, and the cool voice of logic and reason told him 'no' -- under no circumstances should he compromise the distance already established. That was his first choice (the better choice). He'd given his word, though, that they would meet, and even though he was far from being a good man, by any sense of the term, he wasn't so far gone that he'd go break a promise to his son.
He never felt quite right in civilian clothes anymore, with the limits they placed upon him, but that was how he chose to come. He didn't need to advertise his activities, and Joey already knew. There was no point in bringing it up.
He arrived promptly, regardless of his misgivings (all hidden), and rapped on the door.
