I'd direct you to the nearest rave, but it doesn't really sound like that's your thing.

Not particularly, no. But I appreciate the idea.

Let me guess. You'd rather visit an art gallery or a museum?

Over a rave, yes. But I am open to any suggestions - I've been to quite a few places over the years that I was surprised at liking. I try to keep an open mind about things first.

Can you hear everybody, too? In your head? Or...does that mean that outside, everyone is in trouble and you can see it?

I'm lacking the proper telepathic abilities... however as an empath, I am able to sense a great deal of emotions. Considerably negative. I can hear their emotional suffering or bliss in my head, however.

I'm not really sure what 'empath' is supposed to mean, but...if you can hear them, can you...turn it off? I don't know how, and...well, I'd like to learn.

I'm sorry for just popping up like this, but...My name's Blue. I don't remember if we ever met before, since I'm part of that...age-problem that I've been told about. Sorry.

An empath is one who can sense and hear emotions from others. A telepath can communication with others using their minds.

It's not so much something you 'turn off', as it's something you learn to control. One of the first things one must do is learn that the ability to hear others thoughts or emotions is a blessing, not a curse, and must be treated as such.

Please don't apologize, Blue. You have alot of courage coming up to a complete stranger like this and asking for help. And don't worry about the "age-problem" detail... there is someone I sort of know who is a part of that themselves.

My name is Desdemona.

Do you want a serious conversation of where you should and shouldn't go, or should I be all ironic and try to make you laugh?

A serious conversation. I truly wish to know this.

Alright, then: you've got the west and the east side to worry about at night, since there's gangs and super-mutants running around like chickens with their heads cut off and, yeah, they hate us. Badly. The north is okay if you're more into ignoring white-collar crime when it goes on, and/or if you're looking to get stiffed at some fancy french restaurant. Good people there, mostly, just some of them can be corrupt, like any other city.

Don't go south. Once you get past a certain point you'll be tempted to just leave, and Iron Man -- the shiny one, apparently -- has a moratorium in place on anyone trying to "escape"

I will try to not come off as cross, but I simply want to know.

I was unaware of Bart's death, Tim. I had to find out about it from him...
How many more will die? ... how many do we lose, that you know of?

... I'm sorry. I wasn't expecting him to discuss it before I had a chance to - talk with you about it.

Superboy - I told him, just like I had to tell Bart. Duela Dent. Anima, Hawk and Dove, Lagoon Boy, Little Barda, Power Boy and Son of Vulcan were part of the new Titans East that Cyborg tried to put together, but they were all killed as well. I... lots of people die, Raven. Not just Titans, not just heroes.

To be fair, he heard me mention being from further in the future, and he assumed I had been around when he died. It wasn't his fault I found out, it just happened...

Trust me, Tim.. if anyone knows about death in the masses, it's me. I just... wanted it to be clear... to prevent this from happening again.

tl;dr ahoy! paper_cutting March 5 2009, 22:19:53 UTC
I must say that the libraries here are simply wonderful! There may even be books here that don't even exist in your world! Of course, there are probably quite a few that do, but many of those I've not read yet either, so having the opportunity to do so here has been splendid!

Oh, and the bookstores are all quite lovely, too! I could spend my entire life reading all there is here and it still wouldn't be enough! It's a little depressing to think about in that way, I suppose. But I would much rather have too much to read than not enough!

*happy wave* I READ IT ALL! darkprophecies March 5 2009, 22:23:03 UTC
Ah, you and I seem to be of the same mind.

The largest library is one of the primary places that I plan to go. I have a deep appreciation for learning new languages especially - the resources there will prove useful in that regard.

Oh yes, learning languages is most certainly helpful! I've learned several simply to be able to read books in their original languages...translations are generally good, but it's really best to be able to read them in the language of the author.

There are far too many languages in existence for me to be able to take them all in. I, unfortunately, had to work harder than my one teammate - she learned a new language simply through physical contact with another individual. Some of us have to learn such things the difficult way.

... I am curious to see their selection of religious and spiritual literature as well.
