4th Test // Voice // After the blackout

Have been thinking about the implications of our being here. Imports, that is. Incident with Vulcanus sparked contemplation. Superpowers, supernatural, super tech, all introduced into world previously unfamiliar with such things. Power implies responsibility for how it’s used. Need to consider larger effects our activities could have on this world ( Read more... )

[Tali is trying to spend more time in this form, if only because she feels she ought to get used to it. Her sunburn is gone for the most part, which is ... for the best.]

With the background knowledge that you and I have from events that occurred at home, I can understand your hesitation. Decisions like this shouldn't be made lightly. There is, however, a point to what some others have said so far -- Lachesis bringing us here at all means that this world is already unstable and irreversibly altered by our mere presence here.

[She comes from a culture where you're raised to put the ultimate greater good above all else, and she knows that Mordin knows that.]

Lachesis itself is in some ways a technological advancement that has started already to change the economy and culture, even the politics of this world. If someone has started it, I don't think that it was you, Professor.

[It's Tali! Mordin smiles.]

Hello, Tali. Good to see you adapting to human form more. Regarding Lachesis- undeniable cultural, political, and economic impact of her actions. Often negative. History of this place shows tendency towards insecurity, violence, even war. Process impossible to reverse at this point. Still, don't want to add to it.

[It's so hard to predict for sure what decisions might lead to. He misses all those fancy STG simulations that could tell him 'yes re-sterilizing the Krogan is definitely the right call.' On the other hand, that didn't work out all that great, did it?]

In your opinion- would mass production and distribution of medi-gel in this world help limit harmful effects of Lachesis' actions, or add to them?

It seems like it might counteract much of the potential harm that Lachesis' actions will inflict on people in the future, but there is also the potential for the medi-gel falling into hands that would use it to fix themselves up when it might be ...

[She knows she needs to word this properly.]

...advantageous to the world at large for them to perish. I suppose that would bring up its own set of questions, though. As far as my human form -- yes, I suppose I'm adapting to it.

[A bright purple ball that Mordin might recognize as her combat drone drifts into the video and Tali bats it away, mildly annoyed.]

Apparently I have also acquired the ability to generate a combat drone significantly more powerful than the ones generated by the omni-tool ... without the aid of the omni-tool.

[When in doubt, distract Mordin from the current extremely difficult moral conundrum with something cool.]

[THOROUGHLY DISTRACTED]

New combat drone? Very intriguing. Lachesis gave me own ability to generate future tech- medi-gel, to be specific. Possible trend in powers.

More powerful- different drone, then? Not Chikkita vas Paus?

No, not Chiktikka vas Paus. This drone seems to share some sort of mental connection with me in addition to its usual powers, and it has both the ability to provide electronic shocks and self-destruct explosively.

It's very strange.

[The drone pushes itself into view again.]

...and mildly irritating.

[Mordin nods, feeling somewhat sorry for the drone. Never get between a Quarian and a piece of tech that they've seen fit to name.]

Could be very useful in combat though. No need for spoken or inputted commands. Faster reactions while under fire. Hopefully won't have to find out of course, but still- good to know.

[It will grow on her -- it's just going to take some time to get used to the idea of a drone knowing her thoughts.]

Yes, and it's interesting to have the heightened powers. I'm sure that I'll settle into it, but between this new drone and the ability to be outside my suit ... I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed, I think.

[She laughs just a little nervously.]

[Mordin nods with his understanding face on]

Situation unprecedented. Unwanted body modifications must especially unsettling for a Quarian- particularly allowing you outside of your suit. Normal to feel stress, uncertainty. Probably mixed with elation as well, considering new possibilities.

Can provide mild sedative if necessary. Help you relax. Also- here to talk if you need me. Not Shepard, but still willing to listen.

[She cracks a smile.]

Thank you, Mordin. I think I'll be able to manage without sedatives for now, but I will keep it in mind. It might help me sleep.
