Have been thinking about the implications of our being here. Imports, that is. Incident with Vulcanus sparked contemplation. Superpowers, supernatural, super tech, all introduced into world previously unfamiliar with such things. Power implies responsibility for how it’s used. Need to consider larger effects our activities could have on this world.

Take medicine, for instance. Being from the 22nd century, possess medical knowledge far more advanced than current Earth tech. Duty as doctor to use knowledge for healing sick, relieving suffering. Example: medi-gel. Substance from own world, brought with me by Porter. Combined anaesthetic, disinfectant, sealing and clotting agent. Can quickly and effectively treat almost any injury. Hypothetically possible to produce using available means. Enormous potential in large-scale manufacturing and distribution. Complete revolution in this world’s medical practice. Reverse injuries, cure illnesses, save many lives. Simply a matter of sharing the knowledge.

Clear-cut decision on surface. However, potential implications staggering. Artificial, external introduction of advanced technology into a society that did not develop it. Medical change involves technological change, leaping ahead of current terrestrial development. Technological change leads to economic change, then cultural change, political change. Hard to predict where it ends. Harder to say whether I have a right to start it. Very old question, debated many different ways in own universe. Past precedents of cultural and technological uplift... disastrous. Have to weigh certainty of preserving lives against possibilities of altering society, violating fundamental principles.

Thought I should raise issue with larger community. Spark discussion, gain new input, see fresh perspectives. Interested to learn what others think. Hopefully avoid destroying planet.
