[Well, no one ever accused Ames of being an accountant. If she was feeling luxurious, she'd have just enough in her account to afford a candy bar.]

Anyone know of a job around here that doesn't involve the words customer service? It's not really my specialty.

[As for what her specialty is, well...that's not something she's going to share with a ( Read more... )

I'm trying to start a detective agency. But I don't have a standing payroll. People would be paid per case.

Detective work, huh? That doesn't sound like a bad deal. I kind-of did something like that back home, though I was more on the...hunting and gathering side of things.

What's the pay? Fixed, or a cut of the haul?

I sort of started the same way.

Even cut of the fee paid by the client. Client is also expected to cover medical expenses, but if for some reason they don't, I'd cover that to whatever I could afford. Not that it usually gets that dangerous, but poking around other people's stuff always carries a risk factor.

[Color her intrigued.]

Sounds fair. What kind of clientele are you aiming for?

[Because the last thing she wants to do is get stuck snooping around in someone's underwear drawer trying to find evidence of an affair.]

At the moment, whatever work I can get that's relatively above-board.

Some of it's criminal investigation. Back home we did a lot of retrieval--someone tells us something is lost, we find it. Some of it's less interesting, like finding lost pets. But that's the nature of detective work--it's not all Sam Spade.

I also do bodyguard work and the like, but as that requires definite physical risk, I wouldn't expect anyone else to do it.

Honestly? Part of why I'm looking for partners is I'm not very good with people. I need someone who's good at finding good clients.

So sorry about the late tag back! Illness put me on an unforseen hiatus. the_scrappy September 12 2011, 02:41:50 UTC
People? I can do people. Er, I'm good with them, that is.

[Lost puppies really aren't her thing, but a gig's a gig. Besides, once she learns her way around this place she can try reeling in some higher profile clients.]

That's good news. If we want to talk about a business partnership, then maybe we should meet.

(((I was thinking, if you're up for it, we could log--but maybe have it be them working on a case together? What do you think?)))

I do thanks! But now I'm playing catch up at work. Blegh. the_scrappy September 15 2011, 03:30:03 UTC
Sounds fair to me. When and where?

(((Sure! I'll be free Friday evening and through the weekend. Just let me know when. Oh, and I'm on Eastern Time.)))

You free tomorrow? [xth] and [xth] in the Village?

((I will set up a log tomorrow (Friday). I'll be busy Friday evening and Saturday (I have a guest coming) but if you don't mind not insta-logging (which will probably be easier given I tend to be asleep when this place is most active) I will set it up and tag it whenever I can. If that's not desirable let me know--send me a PM or email me and we can work something out. Also--would you prefer continuing this conversation or jumping into a case? I can do either (or even try to combine the two).))
