[The view on screen is dim at first; the lighting wherever it is can't be very good. There's some muttering and cursing in the background as the lighting is adjusted, and the room swims into focus. It's a corner of what used to be a warehouse--there are still some dusty crates in view--but is now covered in fake cobwebs, piles of gaming dice, and-- ( Read more... )

For your sake, I'm going to glaze right past the obvious cry for attention you opened with.

I do think I should inquire about this development. If you'll be listening to people more often now, why'd you pick a therapist who can't talk?

I'm not telling my problems to someone who can talk back. That's just stupid. I'm not stupid.

Well, you don't tell them to just anyone, same as you have to pick one choose who you listen to.

But it helps to tell them to someone who can actively listen, and maybe even has a response that isn't completely useless to you. Talking to a spider, you might as well be screaming into the void.

That's the point. I yell at it, and then I feel better. What did you think I was going to do?

Still think your missing some of the subtle complexities of the situation. You may feel a little bit better, temporarily, but it doesn't help much in the long run.

What you need is someone you trust who you can bounce off of, just spill everything to and they can help you figure out where to go from there. Probably someone who isn't afraid to tell you when you're wrong, either, but they won't steer you toward a worse path, either. Just two people who both have their shit, but you're doing your best to work through it together.

A spider isn't likely to net you that.

Look. I've got to start small. This human shit is new to me. And most of it is stupid anyway. Yelling at a spider seems a lot more sensible.

[ the funny thing is he pretty much just described a moirallegiance without even knowing it ]

You only think it's stupid because you haven't given it a proper try. It sounds like you've got two goals you're shooting for here, improving your relationships with others while also trying to work out some personal issues at the same time.

All I'm saying is if you combined them, you might end up with the best of both worlds.
