Okay, I'm sitting here at the
Russian Tea Room and I have to say, the motif is a little too fancy for the working man's budget. The greens, reds and golds do make a remarkable impression along with the flow artwork of the Faberge style decor and acid etched dancing bears in the glass partitions, the atmosphere is certainly noteworthy as enjoyable. Now, if you're looking for a place to make a memorable event, oh say an engagement or a wedding anniversary, don't come here. Too touristy. It's a bad sign when souvenirs are on sale at the front counter.
Now, providing of course that you can take a dent in your wallet, at fifty dollars a plate or more, it's best that you don't make this trip weekly. The atmosphere certainly outweighed the taste of the food which was so-so. The caviar was the best part of the menu but that's simply because of the specialty this place has been noted for along with the atmosphere and the entire dining experience. They put caviar on everything....including the desserts.
Quite the investment for an hour or two and a good place for a business meeting or a night of showing someone special a good time, it's not too shabby. If you're into a little of everything, this is certainly a good place to go.
(OOC: Welcome to the front as a food critic.)
