[amid the outdoor sounds of spring and faint bustle and holler of construction things, there is a Superman. he's not too peppy, but dammit he's not sounding that worn out.]Things are starting to look almost normal back down here. Everyone's still shaken up, though. They have every right to be. I haven't had my ear to the news, but I doubt something ( Read more... )

Superman doesn't leave much to the imagination, does it? If you're in the business of Superhuman aid, I'm definitely interested in hearing what you can do in your own words. Video only does so much.

I have no problem meeting face-to-face to talk trade--if you do more than share the interest, that is. Who would I be speaking to?

I definitely share the interest. I'm Iron Man, also known as Tony Stark.

I've definitely heard of you before, sir. In passing, that is. I've never had an ear for too much gossip. It'd be an honor to have the chance to discuss with you; I'm pretty sure you have a better handle on the state of this place than I would.

Probably. No offense meant, but I've been here for over a year now, even excluding the past few weeks I went missing.

No offense taken. Rather, I'd appreciate any insight someone has, especially someone who's been around here for a while. Once the bulk of this mess is taken care of, what do you say to a meetup and talk?

I think that sounds fantastic. I've been alternating with what I can do here and in DC, along with the usual trappings of everyday life.

From what I've seen here on the ground, folks here are pretty eager to get things situated and back to normal with their own hands. I don't blame them. No doubt there'll be some fingerpointing on down the road, but that's not surprising...

[beat. a bit of a tired sigh.]

To be honest, I'm cringing a little at how this'll play out in the long run. That terrorist may get a bit of his wish if everyone isn't careful.

I know.

[ He sighs, and it's the sigh of someone who's seen this play out before. ]

Believe me, it's a very bad situation. Even if we are on our best behavior, it might not go over well.

[always the optimist:] It'll be easier facing things like this as a unit, if it's possible. I know there's plenty of folks doing their vigilante work alone, but most of the loners I know can see the wisdom in banding together for a singular cause. Even if it's just temporarily.

Already a few steps ahead of you on that one. I'm sure you've heard of the Avengers, or rather, my team of them. Working together isn't just smarter, it's necessary.

The word's been tossed around in earshot once or twice on my end, but that's about all I got. Do your Avengers have any connections with the other groups established here?

Marginally. More of in a: "I know some of them and would help in a heartbeat" sense. Teams don't have much interest in working together, unfortunately.

That puts a bit of a damper on things. I hope I can...well. I don't know yet. And I'm already talking your ear off, even after saying it'd be face to face. I'm sorry. We'll save the meat of discussion for later, yes?

Sounds perfect, I forget sometimes that others can't multitask as well as I can.

Until later, Superman.
