[amid the outdoor sounds of spring and faint bustle and holler of construction things, there is a Superman. he's not too peppy, but dammit he's not sounding that worn out.]Things are starting to look almost normal back down here. Everyone's still shaken up, though. They have every right to be. I haven't had my ear to the news, but I doubt something ( Read more... )

Wonderful, dahling. Very nicely put.

It sounds like you've been in the super business for awhile.

Sounds like you know how to tell those sorts of things. Unless that was a lucky guess on your part. Either way, the answer's yes. It's...been a 'while', I'd say.

May I ask who you are, ma'am?

Dahling! You don't spend your whole life making super suits without picking up these things.

You can call me E, dahling.

A superhero tailor, is it? Can't say I've heard of many of those where I'm from. It's nice to meet you, E.

We're a rare breed. But then, one tailor can outfit a hundred supers so the numbers still match up.

So your Super name is Superman...that must have taken a lot of time to come up with.

To be fair, the name wasn't my own choosing. Media tends to hook a catchy title and send it running, and before you know it, you've got yourself a household name you can't shake.

Haha. That makes sense, dahling. The media tends to do crazy things to supers sometimes.

What would you have chosen for yourself?

I was still a bit green when the hype began, so I doubt it would've been anything good on my part. [a self-depreciating chuckle.] I owe the press the save on the naming part, I think.

Oh, so it's probably good you didn't get a chance to do it yourself.

I tell you, dahling, I think naming a super is the hardest part. Once the media gets it, you're stuck with it.

I knew one super...he misspelled his name on the back of his suit it was a sports jersey like thing, very ugly. Oh! It stuck with him for the rest of his career. Which wasn't very long.

That's a shame--especially if he was any good at helping in the first place, name or no. I can't say there isn't a fair amount of odd titles back on the Earth I know, but those sorts of things are fairly secondary in my mind.

Aside from that, though...You said you've been at the costuming business for years, yes? Does that make patching a few fraying edges a bit above you? Because if not...

Above me or below me, dahling?

Let me take a look at it. I can probably do you one better than what you have.

Ah? [beat.] Oh. I'm sorry, I mixed that up, didn't I?

Thank you, E. I appreciate that. Where can I find you when I get back up there?

I have a compound at [location]. Just stop by, I love visitors.

I should have all of the vampire bits off my lawn by the time you show up.

If not, though, I'd be more than willing to lend a hand. It'd be no trouble at all.

Oh such a gentleman. I'm sure it would take a super much less time to clean it all up than it would take me.

Excellent, dahling, we have a deal! You clean my lawn, I'll fix your suit.

Well..."super" is in the title; I better live up to it somehow. [a bit of a laugh.] Thanks again. I'll see to it when I get back.
