I don't know what happened to this city, but I think it's better I wasn't here for whatever it was. Caused enough damage - if I didn't know better, I'd say Geth.

[There's just...a sigh.]

2010, really...when I said "two centuries" I wasn't really aiming to be right. At least this Earth isn't as much of a landfill as it is in my time. Well, or so I've heard.

Hopefully, we will. Humans have more of a chance keeping this planet livable than the Drell did.

Sounds interesting. You'll have to tell me the story sometime -- if it isn't too traumatic, of course. God knows I have some stories I'd rather not tell.

[Pause.]

I never introduced myself - must've slipped my mind. Garrus Vakarian.

Interstellar travelers did some of the damage to Earth - my Earth. Humans did most of it. Pollution, creation and use of compounds that never broke down. The planet's a waste dump. But I've never visited it personally, mainly stuck to the Citadel. C-Sec doesn't see a lot of travel.

It's a race - not the worst around, either. You don't see many of them on the Citadel. They're aliens, I suppose people from this time period would call them. People don't really use the term too often where I'm from, and when they do, it's mainly humans and krogan.

If it's the Earth from my future, humans will be long gone by the time it gets uncomfortable. But if it's your Earth, then we better hope somebody changes how they do things.

Well, we've got those too. It seems like any future has some lunatic who thinks he can make things better by compromising something else. Or he's just greedy, I've seen enough of them too.

Mainly though, our homicidal robots are just sentient. Half of all the AIs I've run into seem homicidal.

Well, humans are a pretty big part of the galaxy. Three species make up the Alliance, an agreement between the most powerful races not to kill each other; humans, asari, and turians. They work to keep the peace in our galaxy, speak for the quarians, krogans, salarians - nearly every other race in Alliance space. Minus the geth - but the geth are sentient and malicious AIs and come from beyond the Veil, so no one really bothers trying to govern them. We've got dozens upon dozens of city worlds, not to mention colonies.

It's not all bad. The geth have their area, the Collectors have theirs; they usually stay away from Alliance space, and humans that try and enter those areas are either never seen again or....well, they get sent back as something worse than dead. We avoid them and they, for the most part, avoid us.
