disney happy is not something a decepticon should be; VOICE

I have noticed a common factor in a lot of human media. There is almost what seems to be an insistent need to be in a relationship.

So. What is the purpose of a relationship? I have to say I am quite interested in the reasoning behind it.

There is a certain comfort in the touch of another human being.

How so? If you do not mind my asking.

Well. I suppose it's hard to explain; it's much more of a demonstrative process.

Haven't you ever felt anything like it?

I do not often feel much of anything.

There are a number of reasons.

They depend on how you look at the situation.

[[encrypted like a mother because like hell he's gonna let anyone else see ANY of this and you're just lucky he's in a good mood and obliviously thinks you're all right gdit; also, voice]]

...I...

[SILENCE. HE DOESN'T FREAKING KNOW HOW TO SAY IT WHY ARE YOU ASKING HIM argh]

...I feel... safe. Not alone.

No betrayal. Backup when I need it.

Someone who understands. Can teach me to be--better. Than myself.

I enjoy their presence. I'd like--I want to keep them around.

And protect them.

While I still can.

[ANOTHER PAUSE.]

...It's not the same. For everyone, I mean.

Yes, I can see that everyone seems to have a different opinion on the matter.

Understanding has come up more than once however. It sounds... nice.

Sex!

And uh I guess also the constant having-someone-around-who-cares-and-understands thing.

But also sex.

Well yeah, but isn't it supposed to be better with someone you really care about or some sappy crap like that?

You don't sound like you believe so.

Let me tell you something, Shocky. There is nothing better than being in a relationship.

notsoloyal January 28 2010, 02:02:21 UTC
And what makes you say that, Sentinel?

First off, you're never bored on your off hours, because you always have someone to spend time with. Nothing to do? Call her up - boom: instant plans. Second, it's fun to watch single mechs get jealous when you show her off. Especially if she's hot. Third: getting to interface on a regular basis. Two words, my friend: Oh. Yeah.

But without a doubt, the best part of being in a relationship is having somebody in your life that you care about so much that you'd be willing to go to the Pit and back for her, and knowing that she feels the same way about you. Do you have any idea how good that feels? When your spark feels like it's about to just burst out of its containment field and all you want is to spend every last cycle of your life with her until you both offline?

Yeah.

I miss that.

I agree completely with that second part, but...

Sentinel, I doubt you've ever interfaced in your life.

Don't believe the hype. It's all a lie. You just do what you want to do, and screw society and the media and everyone else who thinks otherwise.

Oh. I never said I wanted to be in one. I am just curious as to what the purpose of one is.

Beats the hell out of me. In my experience, it's nothing but trouble. Setting yourself up for pain and misery, caught between your own needs and someone else's.

So, in your opinion there is no purpose?
