It's nice to be out of the MAC-- free housing is great but the place kind of made my skin crawl. I can't hope to feel at home here, but at least now my address doesn't give me away as coming from another universe.

I don't really think anyone can blame you at attempting normality. Though one would no doubt call into question what qualifies as normal in a place like this.

From my understanding, it's quite possible they could -- that is, after all, the purpose of a secret identity, yes? Perhaps they were a bit more subtle about it back home.

Well, in spite of what the occasional weirdo on the train might claim, we didn't have superheroes outside comic books where I'm from. Or else their secret identities were just really airtight.

I think adjustment depends on the sort of job one held. Freelance vigilantes are mobile by nature-- they can't afford to have too many ties.

No, I worked in a more official homeland security capacity. Which is very difficult to do if you lack the necessary documents proving you exist.

I can imagine. Maybe that's why we don't get to bring our IDs, it makes vigilantism the path of least resistance.
