An Unusually Awesome Weekend Part 1

You ever had a conversation with your friends about your ideal concert? Like for example

"Dude, if like Celene Dion and Slayer came to my backyard....I would explode."

Well, for some odd reason, call it the planets aligning or God showing me he loves me again, Third Eye Blind (my favorite) and freaking Metallica (favorite metal) called each other up and were like, "Yo, we should play a show in New Orleans this weekend cause Coleman really likes both of us!" I still can't believe how amazing that was. Insane in the membrane, INSANE IN THE BRAIN!

I love music.

So last night was Third Eye Blind....ahhh yes, i remember buying my first cd, their self-titled debut, and thinking "those songs on the radio were pretty good." 8 er 9 years later, i'm still spinning that record, simply amazing. Anyway, Me, Chawles, Lo-fag, Chase B, Brett, and LP loaded up and headed to New Orleans (or as the kool kids drinkin the kook aid say NOLA) and got there around 4 ish. I love car rides to places with friends. Always end up having great conversations. Here's to you Chase. So we get to Tulane and it's really pretty. I thought it was alot prettier than LSU's campus. I guess maybe because it's not so huge and you can tell it's definetly a part of New Orleans which is beautiful. We drove around some random neighborhood before we got there (we were lost as no one printed out directions) and even the neighborhoods that had been damaged by Katrina and Gustav looked awesome. It's the oak trees that do it for me. I guess coming from working construction on new subdivisions where they clear cut EVERYTHING and make basically the same house over and over and over and over in the name of cost efficiency makes me appreicate trees and creative houses more. So we get there and go eat at LE Gourmet....it's gourmet i guess... then stood in line for half an hour to get into the auditorium. I wasn't expecting seats but it worked out in the end. I ended up rocking out in the aisle. The concert itself was so freaking good. here's the setlist:

Losing A Whole Year
Crystal Baller
Graduate
Narcolepsy
Never Let You Go
Wounded
Deep Inside of You
Why Can't You Be You
Don't Believe a Word (new song from upcoming album)
Jumper
Semi-Charmed Life
Motorcycle Drive-By
they played a couple more new songs from the new album I hadn't heard yet which were pretty freaking awesome.....then they did an encore with

How's it gonna freaking be...one of my all time favorite songs. great way to end the set.

Afterwards it was a blur of friends and who's going wheres and what's next. I kinda wish I would have just ended it there to soak in the experience. I ended up goin with Blaine and Ashtonian to the French Quarter with Jaim, Mel, Kelli and Adam. It was cold and Bourbon St. is Bourbon St. We went to Harrahs afterward and Harrahs is Harrahs so. I'm not that big a fan of that atomosphere. Seeing all the old people there putting in dollar after dollar in these slot machines at 2 am and a bunch of drunk horny guys with 9 gallons of hair gel trying to pick up chicks is kinda sad to watch. The main fun factor is friends to share strange experiences with. Me, Blaine, and Ashton were trying to free-style rap the whole time and sucking really bad. Then I got home at 4 in the morning and crashed. I felt like I should've been home at like 2. I think 4 is pushing it for me. Good thing I didn't have anything to do the next day. The concert was the main attraction and it rocked so I had a good time.

Tomorrow is Metalli-day. James and Kirk....see you there dudes.

Trying to decided a career is sort of tough if you don't feel that strongly about where you want to go with one.

I'm thinking about switching to word press. Call me trendy. *insert ditzy accent* and like, livejournal is like so 2003. as if.

I need to write music. Soon. LIke now.
