We threw in the towel on Saguaro National Park this afternoon. We could only find a few hours of interesting stuff to do yesterday on the east side, likewise today on the west side. After a few hours everything looked the same and we were done with it ( Read more... )

We stopped for two hikes while visiting Carrizo Plain National Monument (see previous blog) on Saturday. The first was at Painted Rock, a sandstone outcropping said to be one of the best examples of rock art in the world. I was saddened to read in the news today that part of Joshua Tree National Park in California has been closed due to vandalism.
