"obey my dog!"

sooooo, this semester is harder than any i've ever had. 5 classes = lots of homework and frustration. hence the reason i'm staying for yet another saturday evening. my brain needs to chill out for a while, so i'm going to update mindlessly :)

good things:

1. my brother's wedding! went to cali with jamie and the rest of my family. it seriously was so great to have my entire family all together... i'd say that happens like every 2 years. the ceremony was quick and sweet, john looked so happy. he really deserves it, it's been rough for him lately. it all took place in napa (oh so romantic), about 40ish people. they rented out a really nice restaurant in a vineyard for the night. clearly i was drinking the sangria all night :) the meal was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. like 4 different appetizers that looked like something on a special cooking show, and then the best fillet minion (spelling?) i've ever had. there was much dancing to be had, the highlite of which was my 3 nieces belting out kelly clarkston songs in their little girly voices... ahhh, not a single common pitch :)

jamie and i didn't get to do a whole lot since we weren't allowed to drive the rental car, but we got to see bonde boo and andrew (yay!) one night at the bar, and checked out san francisco one day. also, we went to the jelly belly factory and it made me jubilant. i'm really glad he could come, it was special :)

2. had an interview this morning at a geotech/civil company and it went really well. the guy already told me i could have the job, and he'll send me an offer this week. it's in taylor which isn't the greatest drive. however, he said i would do mostly engr work instead of the mindless testing and inspecting that i've had to do in the past. i'm hoping to get a couple other interviews in the next few weeks. options are good :)

3. tomorrow, for the first time in 3 weeks, i get to sleep in as long as i want. i have reserved the day for me :) though, if i know myself, i'll be trying to do more homework anyways.

4. harmas got 3rd place at the a cappella competition (icca). like. woah. if someone said this was a possibility 3 years ago, i would have laughed a lot. and now i just smile :)

5. spring break is coming up!!!!! enjoying a big cabin with friends, hot tub, game room, and potentially skiing? therese and i have decided that it will be the one time in our lives where we will be ridiculous and drunk every night.

6. cottage inn is amazing. gives us free food, patrons buy all of the harmas a round of shots, sebastian spills dressing on girls. every week is exciting!

7. the civil department had a bar crawl last night, appropriately name "the unCIVILized crawl." hee, our shirts had each sub-dicipline written on the back with the corresponding drink. as a geotech, my drink was a mudslide :) i had lots of fun.

not as good things:

1. attempting to study for the f.e. exam every weekend. basically i just get so frustrated with all the things i've forgotten that i rush through the chapters and don't really remember it all. anyone take it yet (cough erin cough)? is it terrible?

2. my senior design project group is extremely lame. we did not get to pick our groups (which i feel is really dumb). i have one guy who is just a total space cadet and often doesn't show up for meetings / remember anything. and the other guy refuses to schedule any meetings that conflict with the hockey and football games that he just CAN'T miss. oh no, he doesn't play these sports... he simply just has to watch them on tv. always. so we schedule around them if we can... yet tonight, he didn't even show up for our meeting b/c his damn game went into overtime. oh wait, no, not HIS game, it's not like actually plays sports (sorry i'm still fuming about it). the girl... she's ok... she at least seems to try. unfortunately, she's not even a civil engineer so she doesn't know how to do most of the work.

3. my last harma concert is coming up :( this is muy sad for me. but i guess it's more of a bittersweet feeling than a sad feeling. anyways, i will be bugging all of you to come to it, don't try to resist.

so as you can see, good outweighs the bad, so i win :) if i ever have a free moment, let's say hello and catch up. mmmm... catch-up... ketchup... fries...
