so i couldn't use my checking card at the store last night, and i figured it was just a fluke. then i tried to use it again today and it didn't work again. so i went to my bank to find out what the problem was.
apparently my card was de-activated yesterday. the only way someone can do that is in person with ID or over the phone using social security number, address, blah blah. i definitely did not do either of these.
so now i have no credit card. no idea who knows enough personal info about me to do this except my family. no one at the bank can seem to provide any answers except that a new card will be mailed to my clinton township address in 7-10 business days. awesome. too bad i use my card almost every day.
so then i was wondering... why would someone do this? what possible benefit could this bring? i guess the person could order a new card and have it sent to their address, but i already know it's going to my house. and i guess someone could just be a total ass and screw me over, but that seems strange. possibly it's a computer error, though i think unlikely.
anyone else have other motive hypotheses?
