The reason for the giddy
The secretive thing is over. I basically didn't want to say anything before it was announced. Today it was announced so...
For those of you who don't work in the entertainment field here's Comedy 101:
The term for auditioning in comedy is "showcasing". Basically when Laff Lines or Yuks is looking for new comedians for weekend (PAID) spots or when people from Just for Laughs, Comedy Now and talent scouts from other comedy festivals etc come down here they hold a showcase to find who they want.
Certain people in town (I won't bore you with their names but they're local bookers) are asked to chose comics to be on the showcase.
Well, I was asked to showcase for the owner of Laff Lines and some talent bookers from the States! It's next Thursday! It's my first showcase! If I they like me I could get gigs in Seattle and at Laff Lines - on a regular basis!!!
AND....... I've been told I will be put on the list to showcase for Comedy Now when they come to town early next year!!!! My chances of getting a TV special the first showcase are slim to none - no one ever has - but even if I don't get it right off, once you've showcased for them once, you showcase for them every time they come to town. :)
That's why I was so excited a few days ago! It's just a really cool step ahead in my career. I'm happy.
