It only takes 2 seconds
A few years back (god, can you believe it was a few years back?) when I was unemployed for a while (thanks to the pervy boss with the wayward tongue and my ridiculous sense of right and wrong) one of my brothers came to town and took me out for dinner. I was bitching and moaning about life sucking and he said, "Vic, all it takes is two seconds and you're life can change forever."
I remember thinking how simple that sentence was but also how true it was... and of course how I would never experience that 2 seconds, like ever. (Yes, I've always been an optimist) But Ken (my brother) was right. Because I remember the day I got the call that offered me the job I have now. All of a sudden - in two seconds - I had no more financial issues, 6 weeks vacation and (although I didn't know it at the time) I had a fabulous team of co-workers & a company that kicked serious ass.
Well today as I was driving over The Lions Gate bridge I got another phone call. And in two seconds my life changed. I can barely even talk about it. Honestly, I can't talk about it. It's like one of those things that if I utter outloud I'm scared I'll wake up and it will all have been a dream (like that time I was making out with Steve in the back of a car and Chickie was in the glove compartment with a box of Krispy Kremes....just a dream damnit.)
Seriously though, it's pretty big. It has to do with comedy! It's weird, I know in the grand scheme of things it's not HUGE but I've only been at this solidly for about a year and it's my first big break. And despite being stunned that it's come along so early - I'm also completely ready to take it on and shine!
