She sits before the mirror and applies the elaborate makeup with a steady hand. She has been training for this moment since the night Zagashira and Ebisu saved her from the same fate as her parents. Meeting Soutetsu Ibaragi has only strengthened that resolve. Taking a deep breath, she raises her face and meets the gaze of her reflection in the mirror. The eyes of Kakunojo Yuyama stare back at her, and she readies herself for the upcoming performance.
Kozo passes by, knocking lightly on the door to signal that their time has almost come. She stands tall, appraising herself in the mirror before moving towards the stage. The various troupe members greet her with smiles and nods and she feels the nerves disappear. Tonight's play is one of Soutetsu Ibaragi's best works and she will do everything within her power to share it's true message with the audience.
The cue sounds and Kakunojo Yuyama appears on stage. Her voice never once wavers, her movements are clear and precise. She can feel the eyes of the audience as they watch her perform and reminds her exactly why she is here. Kozo joins her on the stage and together they share the story with the audience. When the play eventually winds down, she can hardly believe that it is over.
The curtains fall and the audience applauds. Soutetsu Ibaragi stands off to the side with a pleased expression as the troupe gathers around her in excitement. She smiles, thanking everyone for their efforts and proclaiming the night to be a success.
