[April 27] Rasetsu no Hana - Falling Apart

Notes: Slight spoilers for recent chapters (34+) but mainly just speculation
As the air began to clear, Rasetsu began to sway, nearly falling to her knees as the events of the day began to catch up with her. Reaching out, Yako caught her before she could fall and gently lowered Rasetsu to the ground. Tears welled up in her eyes and Yako pulled Rasetsu close, wrapping his arms around her shoulders.
"It's ok, I've got you."
Rasetsu gripped one of his hands tightly as a high pitched laugh escaped her mouth. She began to shiver violently, her breathing becoming uneven. Rasetsu soon began to wheeze, unable to catch her breath and Yako swore under his breath.
"Rasetsu!" Yako shouted in an attempt to focus her attention on him. She stilled in his arms, shivering and gasping for air. Yako tightened his hold and leaned close, whispering into her ear. "You're ok. Just breathe. In and out. In and out." Yakou inhaled and exhaled loudly, squeezing Rasetsu's hand as she slowly began to match his breathing.
As her breathing returned to normal, Yako sighed in relief. He squeezed Rasetsu's hand and began to lightly run his other hand along her arm in an attempt to stop the shivering. Placing his head against Rasetsu's shoulder, Yako focused on the sound of her breathing. It was finally over. And Rasetsu was safe.
"Yako..."
Rasetsu's voice broke through Yako's thoughts and he glanced up to find her staring at him with a concerned expression. Placing his hands on her hips, Yako shifted her until Rasetsu was resting on top of him. Yako smiled as he cupped Rasetsu's cheek. "You did it."
Tears began to fall as Rasetsu pulled Yako close, wrapping her arms around his neck. Gently running a hand through her hair, Yako placed his head next to Rasetsu's as she began to fall apart. "You really are amazing, you know."
A soft hiccup was his only answer and couldn't help but laugh softly. Yako shifted slightly and Rasetsu tightened her hold on him. Pressing a light kiss against the top of Rasetsu's head, Yako smiled. "Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere."
