They're not getting better. In fact, in some ways, worse. Trying to find out about some of the more memorable ones, I found a Creepypasta by the name of "Eyeless Jack". Aside from having nearly black blood dripping from his eyeless face mask, it is pretty spot on. Then again, maybe the blood is dark enough to be the black everyone else sees...
