I know a woman who stayed in a nutrition program in college and hated it. she stayed in it because she told her friends that is what she really wanted to do and she hated every minute of it. she didn't want to appear like she had changed her mind. she graduated, got a job in nutrition and hated it. stayed for 2 years and then went BACK to college and got a nursing degree (that is what she really WANTED to do) which she also completed. she is now a nurse in one of the top hospitals in the country and can't wait to go to work in the morning.
the moral of this story is don't be afraid to make changes in your life that you know are what are right and good for you because you don't want to look like an idiot in someone else's eyes. WHO CARES? Just take a big piece of humble pie and do what you have to do. Everyone's "opinions" will settle down after time.
