2008 Overview
1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Several things:
- I am now fit enough to run 30 minutes at 10KM/H without stopping. I am very proud of this since I never EVER ran in my life, ever.
- I am taking singing lessons
- visited my bro in a foreign country
- had my bro over for a visit here in Holland.
- Spent lots of my free time playing a plastic toy guitar ;)
- Held my first new-born nephew in my arms
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I kept some of them, but I still have to write down my resolutions for 2009. Will do so before going on holiday. :)
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Jeroen's sister!
4. Did anyone close to you die?
An uncle but we were not very close.
5. What countries did you visit?
The UK, France and soon Mexico.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
More peace of mind for me and my family.
7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
a) Beginning of the year when I could visit my bro and have him over
a) Beginning of October when we went to France with Jeroen's colleagues
b) 10 december, the birth of our little nephew
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I drove several times on the highway and didn't cause an accident. Didn't crash the car either this year!
9. What was your biggest failure?
Well... I didn't get to do anything useful with my free time but I don't really feel guilty about it. We'll see if the new year brings activities for those two days I am not at work.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had one cold, another bladder infection and lots of headaches ;P
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Guitar Hero! And tickets to Mexico.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Same as last year: My family in Mexico. The rough times still persist and they keep doing their best to overcome the difficulties.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
There's been some problems at work, though this year I did a better job of not letting these issues get to me (I think working less hours has helped bigtime)
Also, the behaviour of someone who keeps messing around with my family. A big FUCK YOU to you.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Tickets to Mexico and random stuffies like wii games, contact lenses, Jeroen's guitar... It was a year with lots of fun expenses but definitely it was the tickets to Mexico the biggest of them all.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Seeing Within Temptation at the Orpheus in November. So close I could touch them... *sighs dreamily*
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Through the Fire and Flames by Dragonforce. :D
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder?
Happier
b) thinner or fatter?
Thinner for a change!
c) richer or poorer?
Richer
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
It'd have been nice if I had managed to work with animalsies but I'll keep an eye on the animal shelter website to see if they have anything nice.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Watching TV and sleep on the couch (same as last year teehee)
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With family in Mexico :D Looking forward to it like whoa.
21. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Meh can I change these questions since I am already married and going steady? No I didn't fall in love with anyone else than my loff.
22. How many one-night stands?
None.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
I couldn't follow much of Prison Break or Heroes this time, but I still enjoy watching those. I also watched "The Biggest Loser" and LOTS of Animal Planet's shows.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope, about the same really LOL.
25. What was the best book you read?
"Making Money" by Terry Pratchett.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Sounds silly, but my discovery turns out to be a lot of the songs in the Guitar Hero III game. If I had heard them before then I never played close attention. Now I really enjoy them a lot whether they are old or not. (To mention a few, "School's Out", "Knights of Cydonia", "When we were young" ... and many many others. ;)
27. What did you want and get?
Lots of puzzles, tickets to Mexico, Wii games, several Studio Ghibli movies.
28. What did you want and not get?
I still haven't won the lottery ;P I also wanted the issues in Mexico to be completely over but helaas....
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
My Neighbor Totoro
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 30. I got together with my circle of friends first, they threw me a surprise pinata party ;) and we went out for dinner. Jeroen's family came to visit too and spent the afternoon here, and then Jeroen's friends popped by for an evening. :D
31.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Same as last year: Bureaucracy in Mexico is damn slow and corrupt and it's taking forever for justice to be served.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
I didn't wear any thermic underwear at all this year! I dunno why but the cold hasn't hit me as bad as before. Other than that it's still about the same: jeans, cotton shirties and a sweater to keep me warm.
33. What kept you sane?
The love and patience of those around me.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I was so fangirling the whole Within Temptation band. Seriously. After that, no one in particular, sometimes there would be a guy on TV and I'd be all WHY HELLO DAR, or HOW U DOIN. But no serious crushes.
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Probably Obama winning the elections, that was cool. :D
36. Who did you miss?
Family in Mexico
37. Who was the best new person you met?
Our little nephew!
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
I finally understand why my parents keep falling asleep during movies. I do it all the time now, but when I was younger it was inconceivable! ;) Now I just shut up and snooze merrily. I won't ever get upset at them falling asleep through a movie ever again. ;D
