I thought I would have time to update at workie during my breaks or if it was quiet, but no such luck LOL, it's been very busy and the new girl is off for a couple of days so I really miss her, she processes a lot of emails and you can really see the difference when she's not there.
Anywaysssssssssss,
As I mentioned earlier we went to help my bro-in-law at Breda with their new house.
Unluckily for me, I woke up with a bad headache (actually I had it since friday and 6 paracetamols were not enough to get rid of it). Jeroen offered me to stay but I still went along as I didn't want to seem like I didnt' feel like helping out or something heh, so off we went, and the headache didn't subside while in the car, on the contrary, it stayed and I began to become very very nauseous. The way to Breda seemed eternal, every time I kept glancing at the TomTom to see how many minutes were left and hoping I wouldn't make a mess in the car!
We finally got there, and as I stepped out of the car and gathered our things, I felt it coming LOL. I had to run to a sewer and let it all out there, baaaarf. I wouldn't have made it on time to the toilet. :P Good thing it didn't happen in the car though!
After that, I was a bit shaky for a bit, but I immediately felt much better and my headache disappeared as if by magic as soon as I started working around the house. Weeeeird...
As for the house-work, I thought it would be minor chores but turns out that they are remodelling EVERYTHING, so the men got busy demolishing the bathroom and the ceilings, and the women helped out with cleaning up the mess. You have no idea how much trash there is. There are bags and bags and bags of stones, tiles and hay (back in god knows how long when that house was built they still used hay for isolation hehe) so the idea is to put new isolation material and make a new pretty ceiling again. During those two days we got as far as demolishing all the ceiling upstairs, adding new isolation to one of the rooms and setting up all the cables for lamps and such, cleaning up the mess, getting rid of the bathroom stuff including a whole bathtub, tiles, sink, cupboards.... (the guys did all this, I only helped with cleaning up and de-tiling a little bit)
In the meantime, my mother in law and myself got busy with the kitchen. It was very dirty, the people didn't bother to clean up much for the new inhabitants, so we had to do it ourselves. The previous owner had cats too so there was hair EVERYWHERE. Damn cat hair, gets all over the place. I cleaned the fridge from top to bottom and we managed to make it odorless with some baking soda, and after that we cleaned the cabinets and cupboards. It took a while but in the end it was all nice and shiny!
After that we got busy sanding doors, throughout the whole weekend we sanded about 4, which also took a while, but it was good progress. Now the doors are ready to be cleaned and painted whenever they have time to do that. :)
So that was it! The injury count was:
1) Beam hitting Jeroen right on the nose and making him bleed a wee bit
2) Dust speck in Jeroen's dad's eye
3) Injury with god knows what on Jeroen's mom's foot. We never found out what caused it but she was bleeding from a toe.
4) Scratches here and there from cleaning up the hay
I think that's about it... once they purchased the necessary security items like gloves, goggles and the like, there were no more casualties ;)
On saturday evening we drove back to the previous apartment of Jeroen's bro where they are still sleeping for the time being, and we watched the soccer match Holland vs Russia over there. We cheered a lot but sadly Holland lost so the cup is over for them. (and for Russia too btw, they just lost 3-0 against Spain! )
So that's what we've been up to. As you can imagine we had no energy to go to fitness on monday but I think we managed to burn enough calories throughout the weekend! :)
